CLUB ACTIVITIES

Knowledge is to the mind, what food is to the soul. 'To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield'. Amidst the hustle and bustle of our daily college routine-classes, exams and assignments a feast to the mind can really rejunuvate weary students. That's the objective of club activities in our esteemed institution St. Joseph's Institute of Technology. Since the beginning of the institution, clubs have been a part and parcel of St. Joseph's Institute of Technology. We have several active clubs that meet up regularly and creates a platform for learning and experience technology.

GOOGLE CLUB

The Google Student Club is a part of the Google Student Ambassador Program that is hosted by Google across the globe. The Google Student Program envelopes 74 cities in India consisting of 177 GSAs. We are proud that St. Joseph’s Institute of Technology is one of the seven Colleges in Chennai which were selected to participate in the Program. Mr. Aravind, Information Technology is the Google Student Ambassador and represents our College in the Program. The program acts as a liaison between our college and Google. The Google Student Club aims to improve the technical and business skill set of fellow students by hosting and organizing events and workshops. It conducts product/program pilots within campus and helps google better understand the culture of our campus.






REPORT:: This is online event was conducted by the department of Information technology in association with Google Developers Student Club exclusively for 12th standard school students on June 5th 2020 from 9AM to 5PM. There were totally 4 events Codefest code which is a debugging event, Superbot quiz is technical quiz event, Design wars is a web page designing event and Cyberspace shotgun is a quiz event in cyber security. More than 100 school students participated from all over Tamil-Nadu through on-line. All the participants were given participation E-certificate and winners were given separate E-certificate through mail. It would have been a great exposure for the school students. Feedbacks were collected from students for further references.

COGNIZANT STUDENT CLUB

The Cognizant Student Club is launched to bridge the gap between the college students and the corporate. Pre-final year is the right time for enhancing skills and preparing for placement. In this regard, Cognizant student club will facilitates development of skills and competency.

OBJECTIVES OF THE CLUB

  • To develop the technical knowledge and skills of the students.
  • To enhance the communication and interpersonal skills of the students.
  • To provide a holistic personality development.
  • To provide corporate and Industry Exposure.

GNU LINUX USERS CLUB (GLUG)

The GNU Linux Users Group is a student hosted group (GLUG) which was first formed by batch of 2014 with the guidance of Mr.Prakash, the Vice President of Free Software Foundation of Tamil Nadu (FSFTN). It is a club which encourages the usage of free and open source software and the open source operating system LINUX among the students. The club meets up once every week and in every session a concept which is beyond the syllabus and which is less preaveled among student is thought to student. The club is inaugurated every year for the the second year and anyone can become the member of this club.For, more information visit the club's blog.

CODING CLUB

Objective of the club

 

  • With the vision of allowing students to move beyond the textbooks to put their technical abilities to the test, the Department of Information Technology proposes the establishment of the ‘Coding Club’.
  • This club would be set up with the intention of giving students the opportunity to explore trending technical topics, enhance their coding capabilities, and engage in constructive skill- building activities.
  • Additionally, this club seeks the active participation of specific alumni of the IT Department who would provide mentorship to the students and positively contribute to the growth of the club.
  • The involvement of the alumni would give the students an avenue to absorb the valuable knowledge and expertise that the graduates would bring with them.
  • Our students have the potential to excel and this club would serve as a tool to help facilitate the discovery and development of this potential into outstanding results.

Objective of the Club

  • Group exposure/sessions of 2-3 hours/week for school students of every class.
  • Periodic activities/innovation fairs and competitions to keep the spark of creativity, innovation and design alive and thriving in students.
  • Periodic interaction of the participants with Innovators/Inventors & researchers.
  • Encouraging students to make use of locally available resources for hands-on activities to supplement curriculum based teaching in science.
