As part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations, the Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering at St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai in association with BRSI Unit has organized “Biotechnology Popularization and Skill Development Program” (BPSDP 2019) on 10th and 11th October 2019 for school students between 9th - 12th Standard.
Has sponsored for this evcnt totally 80 students from secondary schools of various districts of Tamil Nadu had participated in the program.

In part of St. Joseph’s Group of Institutions silver jubilee celebrations, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering & Department of Information Technology jointly organized a mega school event carnival “SILVERSTA 2K19” on 18th OCTOBER, 2019.
SILVERSTA is an event to test the knowledge and talents about information and computing system of the young buddies from in and around Chennai city. Chief Guest is, Mr. Isaac David Shanthakumar E. M.S., M.B.A., Senior Director – Projects, Cognizant. About 411 school children from 22 Government and private Schools of class 9th to 12th standard students in and around Chennai with 25 mentors participated in the event.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, in association with the Optical Society of America Student Chapter organized a State Level Project Fest ELIXIR 2K-19 on August 3rd 2019. This event had four domains, namely, Electronic Science, Robotics, Environmental Science, Social and Biology Science. It was open to all schools in and around Tamil Nadu from 8th Std. to 12th Std., Cash Prize up to 1 lakh and merit certificates was awarded to all the winners. The event was made a grand success with the help of the management, office bearers, staff members and the OSA members. The judging panel was headed by Mr. Sathish Ramachandran CTO, AROBOT, Chennai. The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Ramachandaran K, Senior Executive, Industrial relations, Seshasayee Paper and Boards (SPB) Limited, Erode.
On 26th August 2019 ENVIZAAGE’19 a collective endeavour hosted by the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was organized to commemorate the silver jubilee year of St. Joseph’s Group of Institutions. The event was tailored to create awareness about the role of electrical engineers and their reach and scope in the engineering world for environmental and social issues. A variety of events focussed on identifying the hidden talents in students were conducted. Expo’ze, TED Talks, Multitache, Ikonicarve and Astrobleam were a few to mention. Students from around 40 schools with 760 participants all over the state participated and demonstrated their academic activities with lot of intelligence and enthusiasm.

This event was tailored to create an awareness about the host departments and their reach and scope in the engineering world for environmental and social issues.
The inaugural programme was graced by Dr. Srimathy Kesan, CEO and Founder of Space Kidz India, Chennai.
With an outstanding 400 school pupil turnout, the event was a grand success. Competitions such as JAM (Just a MinuteExtempore), Poster Presentation, Project Expo, Quiz and Connections were conducted and prizes were distributed.Total Cash Prize: Rs. 35, 000.
ISA Students and Leadership Meet - 2019 on 20th of July. The inaugural function is presided by Dr. Prakash J, President - ISA South India Section & Mr. Sai Ramesh B, President - ISA South India Section.
The focal theme of the whole event was “Building and Home Automation Solutions”. Totally, four events were hosted together by the ISA members from Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and Instrumentation and Control Engineering. 80 students from 15 different colleges across Chennai participated in the events.

To celebrate the 25th Silver Jubilee Anniversary celebrations, Department of M.B.A organized a Placement Ready Program (PRP) and was conducted by Mr. Deepak Gaba, an Ex-Google employee, Economic Enthusiast, and the Co-Founder of CORPVERSITY. The four day program held was from 9th to 21st of October 2019 in two batches.
The Department of MBA organized an event called “Manoeuvre to Management” that is “School to College” program on Oct 3rd 2019 as a part of silver jubilee celebrations. Competitions like ‘Business quiz’, ‘Debate’, ‘Product launch’ and “Treasure hunt’ events were organized. Students were enthusiastic in participating in various events. 234 students of 12th standard from eight schools in and around Chennai participated in the various events. Total prize amount given us.
SCIENCE CARNIVAL is a science and technology based competition conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of St. Joseph’s College of Engineering as part of its Series of Silver Jubilee Events. The chief guest for the event was Dr. Sampath Kumar R, M.A., M.Ed., M.Phil., Ph.D., District Educational Officer (Retd.). The event was conducted on 31st August 2019 for students from 9th std to 12th std consisting of 5 events and 2 expos. Around 820 students participated from 39 schools and a cash prize of 36,000 were distributed to the winners.

The Department of Science and Humanities of St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and St. Joseph’s Institute of Technology jointly organized Technozarre, a competition for school students on 23rd October, 2019. Events such as 1) Project Fest, 2) Math Mind πrates, 3) Triwizard Quiz, 4) Science Chiemera and, 5) Poster Presentation were conducted. A total of 319 students from 21 schools in and around Chennai participated. The Chief Guest Mr. Dhamodharan S, District Educational Officer (DEO), St. Thomas Mount, Chennai inaugurated the programme, delivered the address and awarded the cash prize of Rs.30,000 to the winners.

The event was presided over by Mr. Arivarasan, Program Director, Parikshan Charitable Trust, Chennai. Nearly 100 students from around 15 schools took part and showcased their talents in various events. Each event was accorded with 3 prizes with a total of Rs. 30,000 prize money for the entire events.

This competition was an excellent opportunity for under graduate students to showcase their ability to design and build a robot for different applications.
