Industrial Visit
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at St. Joseph’s Institute of
Technology organized an impactful industrial visit for its III-year students to
the Neyveli Lignite Corporation on February 25, 2026. This educational
excursion provided students with invaluable practical exposure to the
complexities of lignite mining and thermal power generation. During the
visit, students observed the operation of heavy machinery, advanced
material handling systems, and critical power plant processes firsthand. By
witnessing real-time mechanical engineering applications and learning
about industrial safety protocols, the students successfully bridged the gap
between classroom theory and large-scale industrial practice.
