Women Coding Club

The "Step into Data Science" workshop was conducted by Women Coding

Club of the CSE Department on 11th April, 2025, at the Smart Classroom ,

with 30 enthusiastic participants. The session was led by Dr. V. Angel
Petricia, Associate Associate Professor from the Department of CSE at St.

Joseph’s Institute of Technology. The workshop was thoughtfully

designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of data science,

offering a hands-on and engaging experience that covered the complete

data science lifecycle—from data collection and cleaning to analysis and

visualization. Attendees gained practical exposure to essential tools such

as Python, Jupyter Notebooks, and widely-used libraries including

Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib. The workshop aimed to build a strong

foundational understanding by exploring real-world datasets and

teaching students how to uncover insights and communicate them

effectively. Topics covered during the session included an introduction to
data science, data handling and preparation, exploratory data analysis,

basic data insights, and an overview of machine learning. By the end of

the workshop, participants expressed increased confidence in working

with data, familiarity with data science tools, and a deeper interest in

pursuing further learning opportunities in data science, analytics, and

machine learning.
