TREE PLANTATION

EVENT
E V E N T

On 18th September 2024,Department of
Electrical and Electronics Engineering,

St.Joseph’s Institute of Technology, OMR,

Chennai organized a one-day tree

plantation drive namely “Tree Plantation

Event” to promote environmental
awareness, celebrating world ozone day

and contribute to the greening of the

campus. The event aimed to encourage

sustainable practices among students,

faculty and the local community. A brief
orientation talk on “Recent Trends on

Wind Energy Conversion System” was

conducted by Dr.Kanagavel.P, Director

and Division Head, National Institute of

Wind Energy, Ministry of New and
Renewable Energy, Chennai, and also

highlighted the significance of tree

planting and the day's activities.

Following the talk, Dr. S.Arivazhagan,

Principal, and Dr. G.Sreekumar, Dean
presided the tree plantation drive, a total

of 50 saplings were planted, including

native species such as Avocado plant,

Gulmohar flame plant, Millettia plant,

Acacia plant and Silver oak.
