Social Outreach Activities
The IT Department from St. Joseph's Institute of
Technology orchestrated a profound visit to the Old
Age Home at Thiruvalluvar Guurgulam,
Kancheepuram, driven by the noble goal of nurturing
a sense of responsibility and gratitude among its
students. Amidst the serene ambiance of the home,
students wholeheartedly immersed themselves in
various activities, including serving meals, offering
assistance to the elderly residents, and sharing
meaningful conversations. These interactions
transcended mere acts of service, evolving into
heartfelt connections that allowed students to glean
profound insights into the experiences and wisdom
of the elderly. Through empathetic exchanges, they
not only listened to their stories but also empathized
with their joys and challenges. This encounter left an
indelible impression on the students, fostering a
deeper appreciation for the blessings in their own
lives.
II year students of the Department of Computer Science
and Engineering visited the Amma Appa Old Age Home,
CSI Magimai illam and Anjalmmal special school as part
of their NGO visit on 6th April, 2024. Such initiatives are
incredibly valuable in fostering a sense of empathy,
understanding, and social responsibility among
students. Visiting old age homes not only provides
companionship and support to the elderly residents but
also allows students to gain firsthand insights into the
challenges faced by the elderly in our society. Interacting
with the residents of the home offers students an
opportunity to learn from their experiences, wisdom,
and perspectives. Number of participants are 125.
