Mentor Hack
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at St. Joseph’s
Institute of Technology organized a 6-hour national-level faculty
hackathon, “MENTOR HACK – Code Innovate Unfold,” on 11th March
2026. The event aimed to foster innovation, collaboration, and problem-
solving among faculty members. A total of 69 participants forming 23
teams from 14 colleges across Tamil Nadu took part. The inauguration
featured Chief Guest B. Venugopal and Guest of Honour S. R. V.
Subrahmanian, who emphasized innovation and practical solutions.
Participants were briefed on rules, problem statements, and evaluation
criteria. The hackathon session ran from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, focusing
on real-world challenges. Ten problem statements were given, equally
contributed by Zuntra and KentaurX. Teams worked intensively to
develop creative prototypes within the limited time. The event
encouraged knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Overall, the hackathon provided a dynamic platform for faculty to
innovate and engage in hands-on problem solving.
The first prize (Rs. 5000/-) was jointly awarded to two teams: Academic Alchemists from Panimalar Engineering College,
comprising Mr. S. Balaji, Dr. S. Selvi, Dr. S. Deepa, and Mrs. R. J. Vijaya Saraswathi, and Green Cultivators from St.
Joseph’s Institute of Technology, Chennai, consisting of Mrs. S. M. Keerthana, Dr. D. Menaga, Dr. C. Rajathi, and Mrs. G.
Smilarubavathy. The second prize (Rs. 3000/-) was secured by the team Seed Hack from Easwari Engineering College,
with members Mrs. R. Meena and Mrs. K. P. Revathi. The third prize (Rs. 2000/-) was awarded to YDWBH from SIMATS
Engineering College, comprising Dr. C. Rajesh Babu, Dr. A. Sairam, Dr. S. K. Saravanan, and Mr. Anthony Joseph Rajan.
The Supernova team from Easwari Engineering College, including Dr. Y. Justindhas, Mr. Ilamurugan G, Dr. Aruna Gladys
A, and Mr. Muhemin Sheriff M, received the Best UI/UX Prize (Rs. 2500/-). Additionally, the MedTech Mavericks team
from Anna University (MIT Campus), comprising Dr. Jayanthi P, Dr. Radha Senthilkumar, Dr. Ponsy R. K. Sathia Bhama,
and Dr. Kola Sujatha P, was honored with the Best Innovation Prize (Rs. 2500/-).
