Placement Empowerment Program (PEP) at St.
Joseph’s Group of Institutions in collaboration
with FOSS United organized a session on FOSS in
Engineering Education delivered by the esteemed
guest speaker, Mr. Sai Rahul Poruri, CEO of FOSS
United, for his insightful presentation on the
power of FOSS tools across disciplines—from
Python and CAD to bioinformatics and ROS,
integrating Free and Open-Source Software
(FOSS) in Engineering Education dated on
29/1/2025! Mr. Hari Prasanth S, Chennai FOSS
Lead and Founder of Mahathaan, skillfully
moderated the session and facilitated engaging
discussions on strategies to integrate FOSS into
our curriculum.
The session highlighted how FOSS empowers students, encourages
collaboration among multi disciplinary Engineering streams, and bridges the
gap between academia and industry. It was truly inspiring to hear from our
HODs and senior faculty members, who shared their valuable insights and
enthusiasm for adopting FOSS in their teaching practices.
