             Guest Lectures



        The  Department  of  Electronics  and  Communication  Engineering
        (ECE)  organized  a  guest  lecture  at  AV  Hall  2  on  March  14th,  2024.
        The session, led by Dr. B. Amudha, a distinguished scientist from the
        Aerodrome Meteorological Office at the Regional Centre of the Indian
        Meteorological Department (IMD) in Chennai, focused on electronic
        instruments  used  in  weather  forecasting.  Dr.  Amudha  shared
        comprehensive  insights  into  modern  forecasting  practices,
        emphasizing  the  significance  of  electronic  instrumentation  in
        gathering,  analyzing,  and  interpreting  meteorological  data.
        Attendees gained a deeper understanding of sophisticated
       technologies  crucial  for  accurate  weather  predictions,  highlighting  the  interdisciplinary  nature  of  meteorological
       sciences.  The  lecture  provided  students  with  practical  applications  of  electronics  in  meteorology,  enriching  their
       knowledge and offering valuable insights into the field's intricacies. Overall, the event proved to be an enlightening and
       enriching experience for all participants.

                                                               Dr. S. Senthil Murugan, a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the National
                                                               Institute  of  Technology,  Kolkata,  conducted  a  captivating
                                                               session for II YEAR MECH students on March 18th, 2024. The
                                                               lecture titled "Mechanical Methods for Processing Metals and
                                                               Alloys"  offered  an  enriching  exploration  of  the  tools  and
                                                               techniques  vital  in  creating  everyday  metallic  marvels.  It
                                                               promised insights into the processes behind shaping metals
                                                               and  alloys.  Dr.  Murugan's  expertise  likely  provided  students
                                                               with  valuable  knowledge  about  the  intricate  methods
                                                               involved in metal processing, offering a deeper understanding
                                                               of their field. Overall, the guest lecture served as a valuable
                                                               educational  experience,  empowering  students  with  insights
                                                               into the fascinating world of mechanical engineering and its
                                                               practical applications in everyday life
      The  EEE  department  recently  hosted  a  guest  lecture
      titled "Recent Trends in Electric Vehicle Technology" on
      12/03/2024, featuring Dr. G.A. Rathy, Professor at the
      Department  of  EEE,  NITTTR,  Chennai,  as  the
      distinguished  speaker.  55  students  from  II  YEAR
      attended this lecture which aimed at introducing them
      to  the  relevance  of  electric  vehicles,  the  current
      demand in the EV industry, and opportunities for skilled
      EV  engineers.  The  lecture  focused  on  enhancing
      students'  knowledge  about  EV  motors  and  drives,  as
      well as the need for EV adoption. Additionally, it aimed
      to motivate students towards entrepreneurship in the
      field  of  Electric  Vehicles.  Overall,  the  lecture  provided

      knowledge  and  motivation  to  pursue  opportunities  in  Manivannan,  an  Associate  Professor  from  the  Department  of
      this burgeoning industry.                               Mechanical  Engineering  at  IIT  Madras,  as  the  distinguished
                                                              speaker.  Dr.  Manivannan's  extensive  expertise  and  pioneering
                                                              contributions  in  the  field  promised  an  engaging  discourse  on
                                                              emerging  innovations  and  transformative  developments  shaping
                                                              the  landscape  of  robotics.  A  total  of  55  students  from  II-year
                                                              attended this guest lecture with the aim of gaining insights into
                                                              various aspects of robotics. The objectives of the lecture were to
                                                              provide  a  comprehensive  understanding  of  robot  hardware,
                                                              sensors,  design  principles,  next-generation  robots,  and  concepts
                                                              of  advancing  intuitive  human-machine  interaction.  Throughout
                                                              the  lecture,  e  provided  students  with  valuable  insights  and
                                                              inspiration to delve deeper into the evolving field of robotics.
