The IEEE Artisanal Deep-Sea Fishers (ADSF) SIGHT event was successfully held at the Coastal Peace
and Development Office, bringing together innovators, experts, and stakeholders to address the
challenges of artisanal fishing. The event focused on promoting sustainable practices through
ethical principles, technological advancements, and community empowerment. Mr. J. Bino,

Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Chair of
IEEE ADSF SIGHT, delivered an inspiring Presidential Address. In his speech, he outlined a vision for

sustainable growth and global collaboration to enhance the livelihoods of deep-sea fishers. This
event reaffirmed IEEE's commitment to leveraging technology for societal benefits and fostering a
brighter future for fishing communities.

The IEEE Artisanal Deep-Sea Fishers (ADSF) SIGHT recognized St. Joseph's

Institute of Technology with the prestigious Julian Teelar Memorial Award
2024 for Best Associate Partner. This accolade celebrates the institute's

outstanding contributions to promoting sustainable practices and
technological innovations in artisanal deep-sea fishing. The award was for
acknowledging the institution's commitment to community empowerment
and ethical advancements. The event highlighted the collaborative efforts

of academia and industry in addressing the challenges faced by artisanal
fishers. This honour underscores St. Joseph's Institute of Technology's
