St.Joseph's Institute of Technology
             Student Workshop

       On March 14th and 15th, 2024, a two-day
workshop for second and third-year mechanical
engineering students focused on "Internet of
Things (IoT) for Mechanical Engineers." Dr.
       Mohammed Abbas, Director of Globesci
       Technologies, introduced IoT's significance and
industrial applications. The workshop began with
an exposition about IoT, followed by hands-on
sessions where students formed groups to
construct their IoT kits for autonomous vehicle
       control. Through these activities, participants
gained practical insights into remote equipment
operation and control via IoT. The workshop
       emphasized real-world applications, enabling
students to understand how IoT technology
       enhances mechanical engineering practices. Dr.
Abbas's expertise and the interactive nature of
       the sessions fostered enthusiasm among
       students, who actively participated in
constructing and experimenting with their IoT
       setups.

The EEE department held a workshop on
"Protection Using ETAP" on March 13th and
14th, 2024, led by Ms. M. Kuzhali, a Senior Power
System Engineer from Power Projects. It targeted
third-year EEE students, totally 29 participants.
The workshop's objective was to furnish
students with crucial skills and knowledge in
power system protection utilizing ETAP software.
                                                              Through interactive sessions, students delved
                                                              into power system protection methods
facilitated by ETAP, gaining hands-on experience

in modelling protection schemes and fault
                                                              analysis. Real-world applications were
                                                              demonstrated via case studies, accentuating
                                                              practical relevance. Ms. Kuzhali's expertise
